Please note: The browser demo online contains the game's last development release up to its first major progression check as a free teaser. As a demo, it does not store save data, so all menu options to save your game will not actually do so. Saving is only functional in the downloadable files you can play off-site, and it's the only way to play longer sessions or save multiple playthroughs. The browser demo will not receive updates after the game's release beyond bug fixes to keep it in-line with the game's current state. If you enjoyed the demo, and would like to experience the entire game, please consider purchasing a copy for $5.00~

Brought into the world as the sacrificial bird for a nest of snakes...

You were born only to be used by others as the living vessel for a powerful magic lineage. You've lived your life knowing that the curse placed on you would take effect someday, with only speculation on what that might even mean. When you find out there's a small village that used to host those who do the dangerous work known as "dungeoneering"- crossing a portal into the strange labyrinths known as dungeons in the hopes of returning with objects of magical power- you know you have to go there. With word coming to you that you've got only a short time left before the curse fully manifests itself, you decide to use whatever time you have to try and find some way to put a stop to it here. So having nothing left to lose, and the potential to find a powerful enough magic item to cure the deepest curse, becoming a dungeoneer it is! But can you even manage against the monsters, magic, and misery of these places? Do you even want to..?

My Final Cursed Days is a fantasy, dungeon-crawling RPG made for the Game Boy! Play through your own story over the course of about 3-4 hours of play-time as you make your way through the period of your life left before the curse takes its nebulous effect. As your days go by, enjoy the following features in the game:

  • Day and night life-sim-style time-management as you use your remaining days in the portal village getting to know the local characters, some of which only set themselves up after word has gotten around of your dungeoneering efforts!
  • First-person dungeon-crawling with combat that's done in a semi-active, turn-based style. This makes encounters more tactical in a way that might be especially rewarding for more puzzle-minded players, but still very manageable and open to many different setups~
  • Character customization including your starting stats, physical attributes, and what spells, items, and other effects you bring with you into the dungeon. These things can and will change as you play, sometimes voluntarily, sometimes not. So don't get too attached, maybe!
  • Have a chat with any NPC in the village! Some might be just for fun, some might have useful information for you, but carry on the conversation well and you might be rewarded with equipment or items~
  • Discover hidden objects and other strange things in the dungeon by entering Search Mode to scour certain areas in point-and-click style! You aren't the first dungeoneer to be here, and some of the previous ones left things behind, for all kinds of reasons, let's just say. You can make use of some of it, but some things might be best brought back to someone more knowledgeable.

hi! If I may make a recommendation for accessibility purposes, can you maybe make the background of this page lower opacity, or change the text color, or something? Because this is how it looks on my screen within the itch desktop app:

Sure thing! Thank you for bringing it to my attention! I'll give the page a going-over ASAP~ ✨

thanks! I can read it perfectly now

hi just wondering anyway to download the latest rom for this would love to play it on my gameboy :)

Sure! The latest work-in-progress roms are always available on my Patreon to supporters at the $3 tier or higher. Even just a single month's sub at that tier would give you access to the current build available there, plus all kinds of other things. This browser demo will get an update soon, for bugs and other small things, but it won't ever go beyond the first major section of the game. Thank you for playing and asking about the rom! It's definitely the best way to play~ ✨

Did you use GB studio for this? the web version also supports mobile too by adding touchscreen controls. Just a heads up from one dev to another!

I don't think I follow, sorry! I did use GB Studio, yes, and I've ported a previous game to Windows, Steam, and 3DS, plus used all the built-in GB Studio options. Do you mean mobile like Android and iOS? I actually looked into making an Android .apk out of the build sometime as well, using a similar process to the Windows port process, but I'm definitely open to easier methods if you have any resources to share!

So, when your building a ROM, it supports any GB emulator. But if you build it for web ports like in itch.io, it gives controller support on Consoles, and touch support for mobile phones. It also has keyboard support but you already knew that. All you gotta is build the web port like normal.

Think I found a bug, I went to the lake on the first day, examined it, and now I can't leave or access a menu.

Ohno! Thanks for the notice! I'll put it on the taskboard and get it fixed as soon as I can~
